Meet Amy Rosoff Davis

Name: Amy Rosoff Davis

Location: Los Angeles

Who are you and what do you stand for? I am a mom, a friend, a wife, a coach and a very passionate and very silly person. I stand for love.

On those days when you’re not feeling 100 percent, what do you do to give yourself a confidence boost?  I redirect myself. Meditate, clean up, focus on my kid, focus on gratitude, and then I pick myself up and do some yoga or walk or sweat, or call a friend.

What activities would you say are part of your self-care routine? And how do you make time for self-care?

Baths, face-masks, saunas, or infrared sweat bed (we have one -and before I was pregnant, while Ellie was at school- I would take a break and watch my fave show and sweat and it was a dream). It’s been challenging to get as much self-care in recently as I would like, but sometimes that just means a walk or technology break or seeing a friend (from a distance) or just listening to my mantras (life white sun). I just started getting prenatal massage this pregnancy- pandemic really messed up my self-care routine- and that’s been divine.

What are 3 words that come to mind when you think of your body?

Strong. Miraculous (it’s growing a second human- so whoa is it incredible watching – again- what a body can do!). Loved.

What are some of your favorite foods that keep your skin healthy?

Cucumber, avocado, good olive oil (I love Brightland and Braggs), grapes, apples, chia seeds and flax meal, dark green veggies. And lots and lots of water.

What does your current skincare routine look-like, specifically for your body?

I am very grateful I have always had pretty clear and easy skin. I take really good care If it and use all non-toxic products and keep it clean and hydrated. I wash twice a day with an oil-based and cream-based cleanser and then a mild soapy cleanser and use serum, oil, lotion and SPF every day. I spray yummy smelling hydrating stuff on it and I use nontoxic makeup – but not very much and not very often

What are some of your favorite body treatments?

Scrubs, baths, massages, acupuncture, sweating- both from physical exercise and saunas infrared sweating

If you could get the world to change its collective mind about one issue, or adopt one way of being, what would it be and why?

Racism.

Fill in the blank:        Self-care        is underrated.

Soundbathing has become more widespread over the last few years and is now a popular wellness activity.

But as the saying goes, there is nothing new written under the Sun. Sound healing has been a popular healing art since ancient times, used by many cultures across the globe for healing and relaxation. From the ancient Greeks who used sound as a way to aid digestion, to monks in temples using Tibetan bowls to enhance their meditation and prayer, to indigenous people such as the Aboriginals using digeridoos, sound healing has always been a powerful therapeutic tool.

Nowadays, we experience sound-healing most commonly through a Soundbath.

A Soundbath is a meditative experience where attendees are ‘bathed’ in the sounds and vibrations of different instruments from gongs, to crystal singing bowls, chimes and more. Unlike a silent or guided meditation, the different instruments provide the meditative experience. Sound is extremely powerful and has the ability to change our brainwaves from beta waves (active state) to alpha (relaxation) theta (meditative) and delta (sleep) waves. The effects of a Sound bath on the brain waves are akin to that of a deep meditation. This results in a deep healing of the nervous system which in turn can help with physical and emotional ailments.

Enjoying Soundbaths regularly can help relax you and keep you energetically clear with a positive impact on your mind, body and soul.

As an astrologer, I use planetary gongs in my custom Soulstrology Soundbaths. Planetary gongs are attuned to the musical note and frequency which corresponds with the planet’s orbital frequency so when you utilize them with intention in a Soundbath experience you are actually harnessing the energies of the planets! As a Reiki Master, I also work with the chakra system and so I use chakra crystal singing bowls in my Soundbaths which are attuned to the note representing different chakras/energy points in the body to help heal and create energetic balance.

I have provided my Soulstrology Soundbaths at Soho House Malibu, Wanderlust Hollywood and Goop, as well as at many private functions.

Currently, due to COVID I am not holding in-person Soulstrology Soundbaths and am instead sharing them virtually by way of online events and Instagram lives and IGTV.

For more information on Soulstrology Soundbaths and my work please see my personal website, Soulstrology.com and follow along on Instagram for some live Soundbaths.

And finally, for your listening pleasure I hope you enjoy this Soulstrology Soundbath with the sounds and vibrations of Jupiter and Earth gongs, chakra crystal singing bowls and chimes.

Lie back, light some incense, and listen with headphones on for maximum benefit!

We have partnered with 5 beautiful, kind, and strong women in our community and asked them questions about self-care, wellness, and of course BODY. Sharing our new Bodycare Collection we collaborated with them to create imagery that showcased their bodies through their lense. We’ll be sharing their imagery and stories throughout the next few weeks so that you can all get to know and love them as much as we do.

Meet Nikia Rodriguez.

#faceyourBODY

Name: Nikia Rodriguez

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Age: 30

Who are you, and what do you stand for?

I’m a half Dominican-half Ashkenazi Jew who grew up in the Hudson Valley. I’ve lived in Los Angeles for 12 years, and now share a home in Echo Park with my husband, Jeff, and our rescue dog, Poppy. Jeff and I run a production company called Picture Ridge Productions, which specializes in travel, culinary, and lifestyle content. When we’re home (for short bursts of time) we spend most of our time chasing the sun, from our yard, to hikes in the hills of Elysian Park, and (if we have it in us) a drive to the ocean.

As a daughter, sister, wife and friend, I stand for equality, in every form. I stand for empathy, kindness, nature and her protection.

On those days when you’re not feeling 100 percent, what do you do to give yourself a confidence boost?

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become less and less interested in spending hours in front of the mirror applying makeup, or blow-drying my naturally wavy hair. But on days when I’m feeling less than 100%, I put some music on and pamper myself with a full skincare routine and makeup application.

What activities would you say are part of your self-care routine? And how do you make time for self-care?

To me, self-care is 60% mental and 40% physical. Mentally, I practice self-care by meditating, reading, spending time with friends, and painting. Physically, self-care comes in the form of healthy eating, low-impact exercise (I love Melissa Wood Health and MadFit) and walking my dog. I’m not someone who necessarily adheres to daily schedules (when I’m not traveling for work,) so I really just take every day as it comes, and listen to my body for cues on what it needs. Depending on how I’m feeling each morning, and what my workload is like, I’ll choose one physical activity and one mental activity to stay balanced throughout my day.

What are three words that come to mind when you think of your body?

Natural, Feminine, Resilient

What are some of your favorite foods that keep your skin healthy?

It’s not a food, but WATER, first and foremost. I keep a glass next to me at all times! For healthy fats and Vitamin E, I love avocados and salmon. Spinach and broccoli are great sources of Zinc, and my Vitamin C facilitators are citrus fruit and sweet potato.

What does your current skincare routine look-like, specifically for your body?

Again, I’m a pretty low maintenance gal. I like a few tried-and-true, go-to products for my face, hair and body. Specifically for my body, Goldfaden’s new Firm Believer and Doctor’s Body Scrub are the perfect product duo to use throughout the week to keep my skin feeling hydrated, smooth and ready for Summer.

What are some of your favorite body treatments?

Admittedly, I’m a sucker for an overpriced, full body massage.

If you could get the world to change its collective mind about one issue or adopt one way of being, what would it be and why?

I’m very concerned about the Earth’s rising climate and the planet we are leaving to future generations. We have done so much damage, that I worry it’s nearly impossible to undo without the collective force of each and every human adapting to an eco-conscious way of life.
