Does ingesting food have the same affect as applying it topically?

When you ingest food and the nutrients in it, your skin is going to be the last place it reaches. Food needs to be digested and then the good vitamins and minerals get absorbed inside the body and organs. Because the skin is the outer most layer of the body “the envelope” essentially, it receives the least amount of ingested goodness. Applying quinoa enhanced products is much more beneficial for the skin. Compare this process to Vitamin C and the skin. Eating fruits with vitamin C or taking supplements is terrific for the inside of the body as well as overall health, but a Vitamin C product is much more effective applied directly to the skin.

Is Quinoa the new power ingredient, we’re hearing so much about it?

Quinoa is externally beneficial as an ingredient as it contains high levels of riboflavin. Riboflavin provides elasticity to the skin and Increases the production of connective tissue, which helps tone the skin and prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. We are about to launch products that utilize Quinoa as a key ingredient! Stay tuned!

What protein-packed foods were trendy in skincare before quinoa came along?

Wild salmon was and still is very popular in skincare products due to its extremely high levels of omegas and fatty acids. Mongongo oil derived from the Mongongo nut, contains protein and omegas. Yogurt was very popular for a time too. Not only does it contain protein it also has skin lightening benefits(Lactic Acid).

Why is protein important in skincare (in addition to your diet)?

Collagen is the protein that is responsible for holding our connective tissue together. 25-35% of our body’s protein content is made up of collagen. As we age we decrease the production of collagen due to Glycation, sun damage, environmental stressors as well as general aging. Protein helps to build muscle, skin, nails, hair and repair tissue. By eating protein you can ensure a healthy body inside and by applying it topically through skincare products you can achieve a healthy youthful appearance.
