Over the next few months, we will share Dr. G’s thought process and choices for ingredients and formulating. This week we sat down with him to learn about the ‘Power of the Flower’, and why something as ordinary as a floral arrangement on your table, could save your skin.

“The integrity and purity in plant and botanically derived ingredients is one of the forefronts of our brand. We use high levels of vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, amino acids, antioxidants, enzymes, plant stem cells and floral extracts to provide a vital spectrum of benefits for the skin without being compromised by fillers and inactive ingredients.” Dr. Goldfaden

One of the most common questions Dr. G gets asked is, when to start using an anti aging regimen?’

“By the time your mid 20’s roll around, collagen production has already started slowing down. Collagen is one of three structural proteins that our bodies produce. Elastin and Glycosaminoglycans are the other two, which we will get to. Collagen is responsible for providing tissue and organs strength. As we age collagen is produced less and tissue begins to disconnect thus creating wrinkles, dryness and sagging skin. Elastin also plays a big role in aging, although not as plentiful in the skin as collagen, it is still important. Elastin is responsible for stretching abilities and ‘snapping back’, think of the word ‘elastic’. Once elastin starts to diminish, skin will look saggy, sunken and limp. Glycosaminoglycans are responsible for keeping collagen and elastin supported in the cellular space.” Dermatologist, Dr. Gary Goldfaden MD

If you missed the mid 20’s starting mark, do not worry. The good news is it is never too late to start an anti-aging regimen!

Dr. G created a proprietary complex named PURFLORA, found in our Plant Profusion Collection , that includes ingredients which tackle many of the signs of aging. Plant Profusion is an anti-aging collection that is made up of plant stem cells and other supercharged anti-oxidants. The specialized complex, PURFLORA, combines a potent blend made up of Raspberry Leaf Extract, Comfrey Stem Cells, White Tea Leaf Extract, Garden Crest Sprouts and Birds of Paradise Extract. The benefits result in skin tone and texture improvement, overall brightness + reduction of unwanted pigmentation, increase of the skin barrier function and an overall hydrated glow.

If you are already on a Goldfaden MD regimen and are ready to start using superior anti-aging targeted products, Plant Profusion can be easily incorporated. Focusing on intense skin rejuvenation, hydration and brightness, we created a serum, eye cream, neck cream and night cream. While the new collection was created to enhance the core collection, there can be some confusion in the beginning.  Below are a few questions you may be asking yourself.

Q & A with Dr. G

Can I use The Supreme Serum with Fleuressence oil?

No. Fleuressence is an oil and the new Supreme Serum is oil free. Our suggestions is to use Fleuressence during the day and Supreme Serum at night. Or use one every other day. For intense anti-aging benefits Supreme Serum should be used at least once a day.

Can I use Bright Eyes + Energetic Eye Cream together?

Yes. Bright Eyes can be used during the day or during warmer months. Energetic Eye Cream is richer in texture and contains caffeine (de-puff) and Quinoa for its proteins and riboflavins (help to rebuild thin skin). Bright Eyes targets darkness and puffiness and Energetic eye Cream targets them as well in addition to rebuilding the thin eye area skin and encouraging collagen production thus getting rid of line and wrinkles.

Why can’t I use my neck creams on my face and vice versa?

The Lifting Neck Cream was formulated with specific ingredients (peptides and pink grapefruit oil) to target sagging thin neck skin, along with the horizontal bands and hyper pigmentation that can appear with age. The neck also tends to be drier than the face and needs more moisture. However, people make the mistake of using neck creams that are too heavy-when all they need to a medium weight neck cream. Your neck doesn’t absorb in the same manner the face does, so less is more when it comes to the neck.

We hope you love Plant Profusion as much as we do!

After the ripe old age of 24 our bodies collagen production decreases, which means that starting an anti-aging regimen early is imperative. With the launch of The Plant Profusion Collection, even the youngest Goldfaden MD client can start protecting against aging skin. This four piece anti-aging collection was created to enhance the core collection of Goldfaden MD products. Aiming at specific areas that age first, get creepy and suffer hyper-pigmentation damage (eyes, neck and face) Plant Profusion, can be incorporated into any regimen. Plant Profusion

Tips + Tricks to incorporate Plant Profusion into an existing Goldfaden MD regimen.

Serums
If you are currently using Radical Difference or Light Treatment as a daily serum, there is no reason to cease. Radical Difference + Light Treatment are perfect for the daytime, especially if you live in warmer climates or have sensitive skin. Add in Supreme Serum as your PM serum and you will additionally target hyper pigmentation, rough skin texture, photo damage, collagen and elastin production and DNA repair! Supreme Serum is oil free and appropriate for all skin types. Your skin will thank you.

Oils
Oils have become a staple of many regimens, and for all your Fleuressence Oil fans, it can still be used. The recommended way to use both Fleuressence and Supreme Serum, is to use them separately. Fleuressence could be used at night before a moisturizer, while Supreme Serum can be aa daytime serum. This can also be reversed if you enjoy dropping a little Fleuressence into your foundation for that Goldfaden glow. Another option is to alternate every other day between the two serums. Fleuressence is going to target brightness, dark spots and hydration, while Supreme Serum is targeting DNA repair and collagen production with plant stem cells.

Already a Bright Eyes devotee? The new Energetic Eye Cream will only enhance Bright Eyes! Bright Eyes can still be used during the day and for makeup prep, since it behaves similarly to a primer, while Energetic Eye can be introduced as a night treatment. The new Energetic Eye Cream is luxurious in texture, specifically targets rebuilding the thin and creepy skin under and around the eye region. The exotic ingredient Quinoa seed extract delivers riboflavins and protein to encourage epidermal renewal and tighter smoother skin. A touch of caffeine ensures eyes will never look puffy again. Eyes wake up looking rested, bright, smooth and free of fine lines and wrinkles.

Neck Cream vs. Night Cream
The facial skin and the neck /chest area are very different in their makeup and texture and therefore need entirely different targeted list of ingredients. The neck does not have the same amount of pores as the face and therefore tends to be drier and sooner to show sun damage and signs of aging. The Plant Profusion Lifting Neck Cream utilizes the PURFLORA complex to encourage collagen production, which helps to thicken the skin, lighten hyper-pigmentation, and target DNA repair. Specific to the Neck Cream, the auditor of powerful Pink Grapefruit Oil binds moisture onto the neck creating hydration, while Hexapeptide-10 lifts and fills the bands and wrinkles. The tricky thing about neck versus night creams, are that the two different types of skin need different attention. The neck needs a hydration delivery system different from the facial skin due to the difference in pores, hair follicles, oil glands etc . The neck does very well with peptides and collagen to thicken and tighten the sagging then skin. While these ingredients are in night creams also, the neck still needs its own specific formulation of ingredients. Always remember when applying neck cream to not tug at the skin. Rub in an upwards motion and don’t neglect the back of the neck-as it gets sun damage too! Our Regenerative Night Cream delivers supreme anti-oxidants and plant stem cells to encourage collagen production and DNA repair. The best time to use a night cream is at night due to the lack of sunlight the and higher levels of melatonin in the body. However, Plant Profusion Night Cream is safe for daytime use.

Remember it is never too young to start on the road of anti-aging.
