Jennifer Lia’s series is an ode to the stunning beaches of Sydney – with her signature painting ‘ICEBERGS’  abstract take on the incredibly iconic Bondi pools, in Bondi Beach, Australia – Crisp fresh blues contrasting with sharp pool lanes inviting you to dive right in. We have been following her for years now and we love her work, passion and dedication that she brings to our creative world.

“THE SIMPLICITY OF ICONIC ICEBERGS IS WHAT DRAWS ME BACK AGAIN AND AGAIN.  THE CRISP POOLS OF AQUA AND TURQUOISE THAT PLAY OFF ONE ANOTHER.  THE WAY THEY SIT RIGHT UP ON THE OCEAN BEHIND THEM, MELTING INTO THE HORIZON AND SKY ABOVE.  THE STARK POOL LANES CONTRAST AGAINST THE SOFT WASHES OF BLUES AND INVITE YOU TO DIVE RIGHT IN.  I WANT YOU TO TASTE THE SALT SPRAY AND FEEL THE SUN’S RAYS WHEN YOU TAKE IN MY PAINTING.” Jen Lia

What do you think about, creatively, when you’re collaborating on a project like this (do you have a standard approach to your process)?

I’m a big believer in collaboration when the ethos and vibe of brands or artists are aligned.   That’s where I think a lot of exciting and unexpected work can happen and why I was so happy to collaborate with Goldfaden MD.  Creatively, I consider what story we want to tell and mock up colour palettes and composition to reflect this.

Where did you get your initial idea for your paintings?

I’ve grown up on the beaches of Sydney and I have a lot of happy memories that inspire what I paint.  My work is really a celebration of our incredibly special coastline.  My ‘Icebergs’ work is probably the piece I’m best known for and I wanted to transport the viewer to a familiar place in a new way that has a universal attraction for locals and travellers alike.  When you take in my work, I want you to feel the breeze, taste the salt air and feel like you could dive right in,

Where do you find inspiration?

I’ve always been drawn to the magic of the ocean and colour palette of blues, aqua and turquoise.  I find inspiration from simply being around water and out in nature.  I also love reading artist’s biographies and visiting galleries all around the world.

Did you always want to be an artist?

Yes, I have, ever since I was a little girl.  I would find any chance to draw and paint.  My high school book covers were always covered with sketches and I started painting small canvases and selling at Bondi Markets as a teenager.

Goldfaden MD Detox clarifying cleanser – love the foam texture and my skin feels so fresh and clean without feeling dry.

Drunken Elephant  C-Firma Day Serum – Brightens and absorbs into the skin easily.

Go To Ultra Useful Face Cream – Love the smell and it really hydrates, especially being in air con all day.

Goldfaden MD Doctors Scrub – it really works!  I just glow after using it. It’s my favourite exfoliant.

Goldfaden MD – Fleuressence oil – Super hydrating.  It’s my nightly ritual.

Why is clean beauty important for you?

It’s important to know what’s going into my skin.  I’m always looking at ingredients on products and feel there are so many incredible natural alternatives that deliver results, why would you use chemicals?

How do you de-stress?

Beach walks, Netflix and glass of red.

Homemade Pesto Pasta.
