I love EVERYTHING about this week’s edit and I’m so excited to share it with you. With SS14 collections hitting stores and the sun starting to warm up the east, the moods are changing and everyone is starting to think about their apparel choices in a whole new way. Can you feel it? I love how clothes can completely transform your mood – some say it’s fashion is superficial, I say fashion is the #GAMECHANGER. Change your clothes, change your mood. Welcome to spring, beauties!
We are thrilled to welcome Angela Simpson of Eat Spin Run Repeat to the Goldfaden MD family as our newest Blogger Ambassador! In addition to blogging, Angela is a personal health coach, fitness instructor and nutrition & wellness specialist. Look out for Angela’s The Daily Scrub posts on everything Health & Fitness related!
Who is your beauty icon? Kate Hudson. She’s mastered the no-makeup look, never looks overdone, but always looks gorgeous and put together whether she’s glammed up or walking down the street in jeans and a t-shirt.
What beauty product do you always carry in your handbag? Lip gloss. I think I have at least 5 in my purse right now! There’s everything from clear and fruity (my eos collection is rather extensive) to tinted. I love Clinique’s Almost Lipstick – it gives my lips a nice punch of colour while being really moisturizing at the same time.
Describe your typical morning beauty routine: After the gym, I shower and apply a homemade body scrub. I wash my face and typically do an exfoliating scrub every 2-3 days. Then it’s toner and moisturizer with SPF on my face, and coconut oil instead of body lotion. My makeup routine typically involves foundation, a little translucent powder and bronzer, subtle eye shadow, eyeliner, and lipstick with a bit of gloss on top. Whatever happens to my hair depends on how much time I have left. Sometimes it’s blowdried and straightened, other times I do a head full of curls with my blowdryer’s diffuser, and if I’m running late, the sock bun is my saving grace!
Quote you live by: “Whether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re right.” – Henry Ford.
Living out of a suitcase for weeks at a time means that you don’t have an extra inch of precious carry-on space for both a futuristic moisture-wicking high-tech top and a cool vintage muscle tank. I still live by the same nomad philosophy at home by keeping my wardrobe lean and choosing items that look streetwear rad but will be comfortable for going straight to a salty, dusty or rocky adventure.
Somewhere in between hardcore camping and an afternoon stroll in nature, here’s what I can’t wait to wear this Fall that fulfills both the fashionable and functional checklists.
Lightweight for compressing into a backpack, Poler’s Willow poncho hits on the cape trend and looks more sculpturally cool than a traditional windbreaker. Choose the color—reversible sky blue or mustard—based on your mood and outfit of the day.
BRIXTON Detroit shirt (http://www.brixton.com/brixton-products/brixton-womens/brixton-womens-tops/detroit.html)
There’s something about men’s shirts that hang off a woman’s body in an effortless tomboy way, plus this Brixton baseball tee has a cool athletic-looking twist.
Teva De La Vina boot (http://www.teva.com/womens-de-la-vina-low-comfortable-riding-boots/887278268161,default,pd.html?start=2&cgid=women-boots)
I live by Teva’s hiking shoes for uphill walks on dirt trails. I love the idea of these modern boots that have toothy rubber soles and comfortable cushioning for walking all day anywhere, but never looking like a tourist in sensible walking shoes.
It’s not where you can wear these Michi leggings, but more like where can you not wear these leggings? The sleek styles lines of the sheer mesh adds a dressed-up vibe and hello, they are leggings—run around in them.
