We have partnered with 5 beautiful, kind, and strong women in our community and asked them questions about self-care, wellness, and of course BODY. Sharing our new Bodycare Collection we collaborated with them to create imagery that showcased their bodies through their lense. We’ll be sharing their imagery and stories throughout the next few weeks so that you can all get to know and love them as much as we do.

Meet Nikia Rodriguez.

Name: Nikia Rodriguez

Location: Los Angeles, CA

Age: 30

Who are you, and what do you stand for?

I’m a half Dominican-half Ashkenazi Jew who grew up in the Hudson Valley. I’ve lived in Los Angeles for 12 years, and now share a home in Echo Park with my husband, Jeff, and our rescue dog, Poppy. Jeff and I run a production company called Picture Ridge Productions, which specializes in travel, culinary, and lifestyle content. When we’re home (for short bursts of time) we spend most of our time chasing the sun, from our yard, to hikes in the hills of Elysian Park, and (if we have it in us) a drive to the ocean.

As a daughter, sister, wife and friend, I stand for equality, in every form. I stand for empathy, kindness, nature and her protection.

On those days when you’re not feeling 100 percent, what do you do to give yourself a confidence boost?

As I’ve gotten older, I’ve become less and less interested in spending hours in front of the mirror applying makeup, or blow-drying my naturally wavy hair. But on days when I’m feeling less than 100%, I put some music on and pamper myself with a full skincare routine and makeup application.

What activities would you say are part of your self-care routine? And how do you make time for self-care?

To me, self-care is 60% mental and 40% physical. Mentally, I practice self-care by meditating, reading, spending time with friends, and painting. Physically, self-care comes in the form of healthy eating, low-impact exercise (I love Melissa Wood Health and MadFit) and walking my dog. I’m not someone who necessarily adheres to daily schedules (when I’m not traveling for work,) so I really just take every day as it comes, and listen to my body for cues on what it needs. Depending on how I’m feeling each morning, and what my workload is like, I’ll choose one physical activity and one mental activity to stay balanced throughout my day.

What are three words that come to mind when you think of your body?

Natural, Feminine, Resilient

What are some of your favorite foods that keep your skin healthy?

It’s not a food, but WATER, first and foremost. I keep a glass next to me at all times! For healthy fats and Vitamin E, I love avocados and salmon. Spinach and broccoli are great sources of Zinc, and my Vitamin C facilitators are citrus fruit and sweet potato.

What does your current skincare routine look-like, specifically for your body?

Again, I’m a pretty low maintenance gal. I like a few tried-and-true, go-to products for my face, hair and body. Specifically for my body, Goldfaden’s new Firm Believer and Doctor’s Body Scrub are the perfect product duo to use throughout the week to keep my skin feeling hydrated, smooth and ready for Summer.

What are some of your favorite body treatments?

Admittedly, I’m a sucker for an overpriced, full body massage.

If you could get the world to change its collective mind about one issue or adopt one way of being, what would it be and why?

I’m very concerned about the Earth’s rising climate and the planet we are leaving to future generations. We have done so much damage, that I worry it’s nearly impossible to undo without the collective force of each and every human adapting to an eco-conscious way of life.

Fill in the blank: ______ is underrated.

Cereal is underrated.

When you’re a busy mom of three, time is of the essence, so we sat down with this superwomen, RachelAnne, to learn a thing or two about how she finds balance in her busy world.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m a mama to three amazing children, living on a small six-acre farm by the busy city of Atlanta. One of my favorite things to do with the children is go outside and enjoy all of that sunshine! After a long day of play, we come back inside and clean up for dinner and then bunker down and read books together and cuddle up. I love alone time after the children are down for bed, but wouldn’t change this busy motherhood life for anything!

Can you describe your skin type (i.e. Is your skin usually oily, dry or normal)?

My skin has always been extremely dry and requires lots of extra moisture to keep it soft and from breaking out. It’s been a sore-spot since middle school, and finally in college, I got a hold on my skin care routine once I realized I needed to moisturize!

What are your skin goals?

My current skin goals are to keep my skin acne-free and keep bags from under my eyes, especially being up all night with a new baby, as well as two older children.

When you need to de-stress, what is your go-to?

The best de-stresser for me is some alone time with a chai tea and a book in hand. I love to soak in our clawfoot tub and then pamper myself with skin care indulgences.

Can you share your best multitasking tips in for both your everyday life and your skincare routine?

Being a mom of three keeps me on my feet, but I always take the time in the morning to teach the children to brush their teeth while I’m washing my face and preparing my skin for whatever lies ahead in our day. I like incorporating whatever I’m doing in my conversation with my older children by telling them how important it is to clean our faces and keep our skin healthy and happy!

Favorite thing about being a mom?

My hands-down favorite part of being a mother is watching my children grow into their personalities. My oldest daughter is spunky and so artistic, my son is bashful and just a teddy bear who loves snuggles, and of course, the baby is the light of my life. I love watching them smile and interact with each other and seeing how they are learning to play well together.

Do you have any tips for new moms trying to find a work-life balance?

My best advice for any mother trying to balance everything is get a routine down. It doesn’t have to look like anybody else’s around them, just something that suits the needs of their families and to be sure to take care of themselves and prioritize that time.

The sound of a baby in the midst of teething, the sleepless nights, and the reaching-for-anything-around-me-for-comfort is something that all moms encounter at some point. That’s why we were so excited to sit down with the one part of the rising stars of Doddle & Co, Nicki Radzely to learn more about how she manages a thriving business and a busy household.

Doddle & Co was created by a vision that things can be easier. All of their tools and tricks we rely on as parents can be approached differently. Soothing babies and parents, our goal has been simple from the start: To bring you products that make the day-to-day realities of parenting easier. That’s right. That’s it. (say hello to some of our favorite pacifiers and teethers on the market!)

Do you have any beauty shortcuts that mom’s need to know about?

Eyelashes and Aquaphor. If you always have eyelashes on, it’s like built-in mascara but better and Aquaphor is always on hand, so add it to your lips and get your day started!

Everyone has that ritual that makes them feel confident and pulled together, what’s yours?

Fragrance. I could be wearing or doing absolutely anything, from a big meeting to a quick grocery shop and fragrance always makes me feel like my best self. I tend to wear Hermès as my daily go-to. But I love Byredo, Gypsy Water too! The list goes on and I use fragrance like a fashion accessory.

Do you have any first-time mom advice?

Everyone always say, “it goes so fast” but my advice would be that when you have a baby, remember that a year from that beautiful day, your baby will most likely be walking, talking and eating on their first birthday, so when people say to enjoy it, just realize that it is impossible not to.

What beauty product can you not live without?

Pore minimizer, a good highlighter and radiant skin by Goldfaden MD!

How do you find balance?

I don’t. I think it’s all a myth. I just find the joy in the imbalance. I laugh almost about everything and I barely take anything so seriously that a joke can’t be made. This is all impossible, so just roll with it.. nothing is or should be so perfect that you can’t find lightness in it.

How do you de-stress?

I clean my house, cook a big meal for my family and I light candles after everyone is to bed. But really my secret is music. It’s my medicine. All of this in one day and you pretty much have a rebuilt, re-invigorated, Nicki.
