While I didn’t make it to New York Fashion Week this season, I did stay up to date through some of my favorite bloggers and sites like Glam.com and Style.com. New York Fashion Week with a glass of wine, pajamas and my comfortable couch? Yes, please.

So if you’re wondering what items to keep (or score on the end of the year winter sales), I’ll break it down or you.

Over-sized Fur Coats (Preferably Faux Furs)

New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014 - Ralph Lauren - Runway

This is by far one of my favorite trends. There’s nothing better than textures and layers in a winter look.

FLORALS, even for Fall/Winter

Karen Walker shows big florals are appropriate and can be done even in the winter months. Also, you can never go wrong with cozy over-sized knits

Girl-Meets-Boy

“It’s about taking menswear-inspired silhouettes and translating them into feminine colors and silhouettes,” Minkoff said backstage to style.com. I love her use of layers, feminine details, but with a boyish edge like a long coat or a beanie.

Reds, Oranges and Wines

There’s one thing I aim for in the winter and that’s to remain colorful throughout the cold, drab months. Prabal Gurung knows it’s possible. You can invest if a few pieces like this beautiful orange that can be worn through seasons to come.

The Four Percent. She will be contributing everything from workouts, nutrition & health information regularly to The Daily Scrub!

Who is your beauty icon?

The Olsen Twins – not only are they the epitome of cool, no one can pull off a fresh face like those two. As someone who lives out of a gym bag I don’t have a lot of time or room for a ton of products. I love their minimalist look that always end up looking incredibly chic and polished.

What beauty product do you always carry in your handbag?

Chanel Volume Mascara and Rosebud lip balm. I can’t live without them!

Describe your typical morning beauty routine:

I can’t start my day without a workout, but by the time I’m done I’m usually running late – I have a day job in advertising on top of my fitness hustle. I’ll quickly shower, haphazardly blow my hair dry and throw into a top knot. Tinted moisturizer, pink blush, mascara and lip balm are my week day staples.

I’ve lived by this Arnold Bennett quote for several years now, “Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomforts.” It reminds me to push past my comfort zone and embrace challenges. Challenge is synonymous with change. You always come through a better, stronger, and more able person.

We couldn’t be more excited to have Melanie & Chris, the mother/daughter duo of the fashion & lifestyle blog 39Nineteen.com join the GoldfadenMD team as our newest Blogger Ambassadors. A Q&A with Melanie…

Who is your beauty icon?

Jane Birkin. Such an effortless beauty

What beauty product do you always carry in your handbag?

Tokyo Milk Sweet Cream bon bon lip balm. I’ve been obsessed with both for almost a decade!

Describe your typical morning beauty routine.

I use a washcloth and put warm-hot water on it, put a dab of face cream on it, and wipe it all over my face. Then after a minute when my face is dry, apply the cream on my face. (This is a trick that my mom taught me! Always keep your skin moisturized! I do it in the morning and before bed and my skin is flawless!).
