We enlisted the skin experts at LovelySkin to weigh in on the changing seasons and how we need to adjust our skincare routine with each one. Read what they had to say.

When the weather fluctuates, we naturally change our wardrobe to stay comfortable and accommodate our bodies for the elements. Shifting seasons can bring about significant changes in your skin, and just as you switch your clothes, you may need to adjust your skin care products to keep your complexion balanced and healthy.

Screen Shot 2015-10-19 at 11.17.53 AMBefore we look at the skin concerns that often accompany each season, it’s important to note that everyone is different. Some individuals may not need to make significant changes to their skin care arsenal each season, while others may need to carry out a total overhaul. There is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all regimen, so you’ll want to examine your skin carefully—it should be able to tell you exactly what it needs. And remember, broad spectrum sun protection, like GOLDFADEN MD Sun Visor, is a must every day, rain or shine, no matter the season.

Autumn

You may begin to notice skin dryness early on in autumn as cool, moisture-depleted air begins to take the place of humidity. When coupled with sun and chlorine damage leftover from summer, this cool air has the potential to leave skin uncomfortably tight. Fine lines and wrinkles may become more pronounced and skin may appear dull and lackluster. The vampy, matte makeup styles of fall may only pronounce the problem!

Winter is also famous for inducing excess dryness, but making the proper changes in the fall can prevent dry skin from growing itchy, flaky and irritated come December. First, amp up your moisture level by switching your summer lotion for a cream. Creams are thicker and tend to provide a stronger barrier against dehydration. Applying body lotion while skin is still damp after a shower is a great way to lock in moisture and maintain softness and suppleness. You’ll also want to exfoliate with GOLDFADEN MD Doctor’s Scrub once or twice a week to remove any skin cells and dulling debris.

Winter

Harsh winds and cold, dry air can exacerbate the dryness of autumn and throw skin off balance. Excessive dryness may bring about redness, flakiness and irritation, and it may even prompt excess oil production, resulting in acne breakouts.

In addition to a day cream, you can add a rich night cream, like GOLDFADEN MD Regenerative Night Cream, to your regimen to help plump and hydrate skin while you sleep. You may also need to up your exfoliation, switching to GOLDFADEN MD Doctor’s Scrub Advanced to smooth any rough patches and encourage a brighter complexion. Hands are prone to roughness and cracking in winter. In addition to wearing gloves when outdoors, you can apply GOLDFADEN MD Hands to Heart daily. Finally, adding GOLDFADEN MD Fresh A Peel to your routine can help provide additional exfoliation and reveal a radiant complexion.

Spring

Come spring, you’ll begin to recover from winter dryness without yet experiencing the oil-inducing humidity of summer. Skin that was hidden away under pants and long sleeves during the fall and winter months will be revealed again, and you may discover rough patches on the feet, knees and elbows.

You’ll want to continue exfoliating once a week to maintain a bright, even complexion, and in later spring you can trade your cream for a lotion for lightweight hydration. Focus on rough patches in stubborn areas of the body with GOLDFADEN MD Doctor’s Scrub Advanced. Spring is a wonderful time to try new things and throw away any products that have expired. Check formulas to be sure they haven’t changed in color, smell or consistency and toss any sunscreens older than a year. Try GOLDFADEN MD Fleuressence Native Botanical Cell Oil to give skin a healthy glow and get it summer-ready.

Summer

In summer, you may find yourself spending time outdoors nearly every day and enjoying frequent dips in the pool or ocean. Hotter temperatures can bring about heavy perspiration and oily skin, resulting in frequent breakouts. If you are prone to hyperpigmentation, sun exposure may induce dark spots and freckles or worsen symptoms of melasma.

Keep acne at bay by cleansing with GOLDFADEN MD Pure Start twice daily. You’ll also need to continue to exfoliate at least once a week to remove the bacteria responsible for blemishes and keep pores free of clogging debris. Many believe that oily skin eliminates the need for a moisturizer, but in actuality, skin exposed to air conditioning, chlorine and saltwater requires a lightweight lotion or serum. To keep skin plump and hydrated and strengthen it against environmental stressors, try GOLDFADEN MD Radical Difference. To address dark spots, you may need to add a lightening treatment, like GOLDFADEN MD Light Treatment, to your routine.

When faced with the task of rehabilitating skin between any season, choose GOLDFADEN MD Skin Renewal Starter Kit. The kit contains Doctor’s Scrub, Pure Start and Vital Boost to encourage a smooth complexion with a healthy, radiant glow.

Bart is the best. We said it, and we mean it. He is one of our biggest fans, and the feelings are totally mutual. Bart also has a beauty and skincare blog that you may’ve heard of, www.inhautepursuit.com. He swapped out his skincare regimen for our Radiant Renewal Starter Kit and Light Treatment and gave us the scoop on how it compares, what he liked and if he’d rather go back to something else. Take a look!

IMG_74181. Meet Bart.
My secret enthusiasm for skincare has never worn off. For the past year, I’ve projected this passion into my blog inhautepursuit.com where I share my latest discoveries, impressions of timeless classics, and personal take on industry newness. As a fan of dermatologist driven product lines and exploring my inner green side, Goldfaden MD has been on my radar for quite some time. It helps that I already love the Fresh-A-Peel treatment.

2. What is the biggest problem you face with your skin?
My combination skin is always in need of a decongestant and a brightener. Between late nights, a bit of travel, and sporadic laziness, I can only commit to formulas that deliver impressive results without triggering any sensitivities. There is nothing worse than trying to address an issue and breaking out while you’re at it.

3. How did Goldfaden MD’s Radiant Renewal Starter Kit and Light Treatment help?
Light Treatment works great under any moisturizer day or night, which makes it a seamless addition to an existing routine that needs a jump. The Radiance Renewal Starter Kit is a truly well comprehended regimen, which I chose to enjoy overnight while my skin is at its most rested state. Gentle and effective, the system kept my complexion hydrated, firm, and smooth.

4. What is/was your favorite part of the regimen, and why?
Sophie’s Choice. It has to be the scrub. The Pure Start cleanser is one of the best foaming gel cleansers I’ve used but I’m such a sucker for instant gratification, I’m going to pick Doctor’s Scrub. Impressive in its performance, the immediate smoothness it delivers blows me away every single time. It completely elevates the rest of your skincare routine. The Radiance Renewal Kit as a whole scores a gold star only because I have a serious fetish for deluxe travel size beauty products.

Yasss! At night time, I’ve chosen to layer the Vital Boost moisturizer over Light Treatment consistently and my skin has definitely been looking brighter these days. Even though I’ve been really good about wearing sunscreen this summer, other environmental aggressors caused some hyperpigmentation issues, which, thanks to Vital Boost are literally fading away. Well played.

6. Would you recommend Goldfaden MD to your readers? And why?
Absolutely. Treat yourself to a Radiance Renewal Starter Kit and explore a potential new favorite. As a huge fan of renewing, peeling, and reviving, my obvious suggestion would be to splurge on a Goldfaden MD exfoliating treatment of your choice. But hey, if you just ran out of face cream, how about that Vital Boost moisturizer? I realize I may be biased… my favorite thing to click on is ‘add to basket.’
